Abstract Submission

You are invited to submit abstracts for presentation at the Congress. Abstracts are submitted online only, using the electronic abstract form on the website. Please read the important information below before proceeding to the online submission form. No proof reading of abstracts will be done after the submission.

Rules

Abstracts must be submitted via this website. Abstracts submitted by email or fax will not be accepted.

  • Fill out carefully all the fields of the abstract form (detailed information is provided to help you submit your abstract).
  • The electronic submission system will close on February 6, 2009, Midnight EST.

  1. Please read carefully all instructions available on the internet abstract submission site before preparing your abstract. If you have successfully submitted your abstract, you will receive a confirmation number. If no confirmation number is received, the abstract has not been submitted successfully.
  2. Failure to observe these guidelines may result in disqualification.
  3. The internet abstract submission system works best with Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or older.
  4. A paper should not be submitted to the XXII ISTH Congress if it has been already presented internationally.
  5. A paper cannot be accepted if the conflict of interest disclosure is not completed. On the on-line abstract form, check the box and enter your initials.

One table can be included, but the total number of cells (columns+rows) may not exceed 16.
Please note that tables may significantly reduce the number of available characters.
The abstract cannot contain more than 2000 characters (blank spaces, punctuation authors' affiliation and titles).

General Remarks

  1. The presenting author of the abstract selected for presentation must be registered at the Congress.
  2. Abstracts cannot be solely descriptive but must contain data.
  3. Data reported in abstracts must derive from experiments that meet international ethical standards.
  4. Abbreviations should be defined.
  5. Abstracts should clearly indicate the scientific question addressed in the study and its importance, a brief description of methods, objective data to answer the scientific question and conclusions of the study directly supported by the results.
  6. Trade names cannot be mentioned in titles. However, trade names in brackets will be accepted in the body of the text.
  7. Please insure your abstract does not contain spelling, grammar or scientific mistakes, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. Linguistic accuracy is your responsibility.
  8. The reviewers will judge the abstracts according to the relevance to ISTH, objectivity of statements, description of what was done, suitability of methods to aims, conclusions confirmed by objective results, ethics, scientific value, potential clinical value and originality of work.
  9. Authors will be notified by March 30, 2009 whether their abstract has been accepted, and they will be informed at the same time about the date, time and form of their presentation.
  10. The name, address, telephone number, fax number and email address of the corresponding author should be given as indicated. The presenting author must be the contact author.
  11. You may re-edit and modify your submitted abstract until the abstract submission deadline by using the Returning-User Function.

Abstract Publication

All abstracts accepted for presentation will be published on the Congress Abstract CD-ROM and distributed to attendees and subscribers as a supplement to Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. Abstracts will be available for viewing on the Congress website approximately 3 weeks before the meeting and afterwards on the JTH online site with free public access.

Presentation of Abstracts

  • Abstracts will be accepted either as a poster or an oral communication.
  • Presenting authors for posters will be requested to attend their poster and be available for discussion from 12:30 PM to 2:15 PM on the day of your poster session.
  • The usable surface of the display panels measures 59 inches (height) x 39 inches (width) [150 cm (height) x 98 cm (width)]. Pins and adhesive material will be provided.
  • Please use letters large enough to be read from a distance of about 5 feet (1.5 meters).
  • Oral presentations will be allocated 10 minutes for presentation plus 5 minutes for discussion. Equipment for projection of PowerPoint presentations onto a single screen will be available in all session rooms.
  • Full details will be included in the abstract acceptance letter.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

If the research included in your abstract was supported by a pharmaceutical company you must indicate the company's role in analyzing the data or preparing the abstract.
