AMA PRA Credits
We are pleased to announce that the scientific program of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis XXII Congress has been reviewed by the American Medical Association and approved for a maximum of 29.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Credit claim forms will be available in your Conference bag. In order to receive credit you must complete the claim form, pay the $35 USD processing fee ( waived for AMA members), and return the form to the AMA monitor’s desk during the Congress or fax the form to AMA headquarters after the conference. A credit certificate will be emailed to physicians within 4 weeks of receipt of the claim form. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. One credit may be claimed for each hour of participation in approved sessions. The Young Investigators Awards are provided in the form of travel
grants to medical trainees and young scientists (under 35 years
of age as of July 11, 2009) who submit highly rated abstracts.
The awards help subsidize travel to the Congress. In order to be
considered for an award, the Young Investigator must be the
presenter and first author of an abstract submitted to the
Congress. Please check the relevant box on the abstract
submission form to indicate you wish to apply for this award. To
be eligible for the award, the recipient must attend the Congress.
These awards are part of the ISTH’s Reach the World initiative and have been made possible . thanks to ISTH, the XXII Congress of the ISTH, and corporate sponsors . Bayer HealthCare, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol Myers Squibb, CSL Behring, GlaxoSmithKline, Novo Nordisk and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

The Congress and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis will award travel grants to scientists from developing countries to help subsidize travel to the Congress. (See LIST of eligible countries.) Applications require the following:
- Submission of a one-page letter to isth2009abs@mci-group.com that includes a description of your position and field, a short statement explaining why attending ISTH 2009 would be valuable to your work/career, and an explanation of your financial need.
- Copy of current passport showing country of residence.
- If you are the presenter and first author of an Abstract, check the ‘Developing World Scientist’ box on the Abstract Submission form.
- Deadline for applications is February 6, 2009. Applicants will be notified by the end of March 2009 regarding their awards, which may include waived registration fees and/or a monetary stipend.
- To be eligible for the award, the recipient must attend the Congress.

Applications are invited for Sanofi-Aventis/ISTH Research Fellowship Awards. These Awards will provide significant funding for two fellows, one participating in clinical research and one in basic research. Funding is $20,000 for each of two years, the second year’s contingent upon the first year’s progress. The research focus is “Cancer and Thrombosis”. The awardee will be chosen by an international jury and formal announcement and presentation of the awards will be made at the XXII Congress.

hours, at the BCEC.

Massachusetts regulations, effective July 1, 2009, prohibit Massachusetts-licensed health care providers from accepting gifts or refreshments from pharmaceutical or medical device companies.
Coffee breaks are included in the registration fee and will be
served in several locations, including the Exhibition Area, to
delegates from Monday, July 13, 2009 to Thursday, July 16
2009 during the session breaks.
Lunch may be purchased at various outlets in the Exhibition Area
and at the Food Court of the BCEC from Monday, July 13, 2009
to Thursday, July 16, 2009.
On Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2009, lunch may be
purchased at the Food Court of the BCEC.
As an alternative, participants who register prior to July 1, 2009,
may choose the option to purchase lunch vouchers while
registering. These lunch vouchers will enable them to retrieve
lunch boxes quite rapidly in an outlet in the Exhibition Area.
Note that purchased lunch boxes will be available on Monday through Thursday, July 13 - 16.
English is the official Congress language and no translation
services are offered.

Poster sessions will take place in Hall B2 of the BCEC, adjacent
to the Exhibition Area. Posters should be mounted on the assigned
board in the Poster Display area. The poster presenting authors
should be present in the Poster Area from 12:30 PM to 2:15 PM
on the day of their poster presentation for free discussion.
Name badges issued upon check in must be visible and used at all times, anywhere at
the BCEC for access to the meeting and official social functions.
The ISTH 2009 Congress is a non-smoking event. Participants
are kindly requested to refrain from smoking in the Congress
venue, including the Exhibition Area.
Delegates are kindly requested to keep their mobile phones
silenced in the rooms where scientific and educational sessions
are being held, as well as during poster sessions.
The Congress site has wireless internet avaiable at no charge.
Speakers are asked to bring their formatted PowerPoint
presentations to the Speaker's Preview Room at least two hours
before their session. Files from keydrives or CD-ROMs can be
transferred to the Congress servers at that time. All conference
rooms contain state-of-the-art technical equipment.
