The Press Office will hold press conferences on timely issues and distribute press releases on the most newsworthy science presented at XXII Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.  Press Office staff can coordinate interviews with physicians and researchers who present their work at ISTH 2009. Only registered journalists have access to the ISTH Press Office.

Press Office resources include:

  • Copies of the ISTH programs, abstract books and handouts.
  • Fax machines, copy machines, message boards and telephones for local calls.
  • Computers and Internet ports for laptops.
  • Breakfast and snacks served daily.
  • Access to a private space to conduct interviews, available in half-hour increments most of the day by arrangement with Press Office staff.

Journalist Registration

Members of the working press are welcome at ISTH 2009, and all scientific and poster sessions are open to them, including plenary sessions, symposia, research and clinical forums. Access to ticketed sessions is on a space-available basis. Media registration is FREE. Please note that the Presidents’ Dinner and the Congress Party are not included in the media registration package. The President’s Dinner is only upon personal invitation and the Congress Party can be purchased for a reservation fee of USD 35.

STEP 1: Submit a registration form.

Media are to register by submitting their name, publication, email, phone, address and credentials to Dave Reiners at Tech Image.

Online media registration is available until July 3, 2009. After this date, journalists must register and provide credentials in person at the ISTH Press Office located within the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, 415 Summer Street, the Congress venue.

STEP 2: Provide credentials.

Press ID, a business card from a media organization, or letter of assignment on media organization letterhead can serve as credentials. If available electronically, please e-mail your credentials to Dave.Reiners@techimage.com. Present your credentials by e-mail, fax or surface mail to:

Once press credentials are received by the ISTH Press Office, it will forward the information to the ISTH 2009 Congress Secretariat so that confirmations can be issued.


Step 3: Pick up your press badge.

A press badge must be worn to gain access to ISTH 2009 sessions, the exhibit floor, and the ISTH Press Office. Only journalists who present press credentials to MCI Suisse, the Congress Secretariat, will receive a press badge. Press badges will be distributed onsite in the ISTH Press Office.

ISTH 2009 Media Policies

General

  • The Press Office is open to media representatives only.
  • TECH IMAGE is the designated agent to handle all media relations for the ISTH 2009 Congress. Other newsrooms are not permitted.
  • Media lists will not be shared.
  • With prior permission from TECH IMAGE, exhibitors are welcome to display materials in a designated exhibitor area of the Press Office.

ISTH Embargo                                        

All data presented at ISTH is embargoed until the beginning of its presentation time or an official ISTH press conference, whichever occurs first.

  • The ISTH embargo lifts at the beginning of the presentation, not the beginning of the session. For example: A presentation given from 10:15-10:30 AM during a session scheduled from 10:00-11:00 AM, would be embargoed for 10:15 AM.
  • If data is featured in an official ISTH press conference that occurs before the data’s scientific presentation or poster session, the embargo lifts at the beginning of the ISTH press conference.
  • All posters are embargoed until 8:00 AM. on the day the poster is presented.

Press Conferences

  • Attendance at official ISTH press conferences is limited to guests invited by presenters and two representatives of any company that manufactures or markets a drug or device that is the topic of a data presentation during the press conference.
  • Any company representative wishing to attend an ISTH press conference must check in with the ISTH Press Office the morning of the press conference.
  • Only media representatives may ask questions during press conferences.
  • Guests of presenters and company representatives may not approach media in the press conference room.

Exhibit Hall

  • Members of the press who are registered with the ISTH Press Office and wearing their press badges are welcome in the exhibit hall.
  • TECH IMAGE must accompany camera crews wishing to tape in the exhibit hall. Crews can arrange for an escort in the ISTH Press Office.

Session Access & Rules

  • All ISTH scientific presentations are open to the media, with the exception of business, committee and administrative meetings, which are closed to the public.
  • Access to ticketed sessions is available on a space-available basis. Food and beverages provided at ISTH ticketed sessions are for paying participants only.
